I married my high school sweetheart after college. We have two children and feel so blessed we were able to create our home on our 2.5 acres of country, river life. Now we get to share in this life with our precious granddaughter, who also loves getting dirty with us tending to animals, planting flowers, vegetables and numerous other country projects. The role of a teacher is for those who are living out what it means to be a life long disciple of Jesus Christ. I believe the teacher that is always growing, and learning will serve learners well, and is the greatest lesson one can teach. This is who I hope to become. I can look back now and see sweet preparation from the Lord as He has lead me here. Once a Christian sets their foot on the path of discipleship the journey never ends.

I have lived in Coos county all of my life except for the 6 years that I was in the United States Air Force as a member of the security forces spending time stateside and overseas. I have been married to my wife, Christy, for 38 years and have 2 grown children and two grandchildren who attend RCS. After military service, I returned home to run a construction company for 20+ years until going back to Ashford University and received my Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration. I hope to instill dedication, passion, skills, and attention to detail that it takes to succeed in life to the students at RCS. I feel blessed by God by his incredible mercy and grace.

I love fiber arts. My mom taught me how to knit and I taught myself how to crochet, tat and cross stitch. Next on my list is to learn how to spin yarn. I have taught classes in knitting socks, toys and hats. I attended University of California at Davis and received a bachelor's degree in genetics. I received my teaching credential in secondary life sciences with a supplementary in chemistry and psychology. Both of my parents were teachers. My dad was a high school art teacher and my mom taught first and second grade. So, being able to teach at Riverview is truly the joy of my life, knowing that I'm sticking with the family legacy of education!

I have felt this pull since we started coming here (RCF) over two years ago to get involved with the youth. To teach them some basic life skills, well, all the skills that I know all come in food form, so buying groceries, working on a budget, FEEDING YOURSELF! I didn’t know this was going to turn into a full-time job teaching again, but I am ALL for it. God has brought me here, no doubt. I am just trusting Him and leaning into the experience. I graduated from the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute in 2010. I've worked at a variety of different establishments ranging from sous chef, private chef, and owning a catering company. I competed as part of the ACF Youth Team USA in the 2012 Culinary Olympics and fill in as a Culinary Instructor at OCCI as needed. I feel so fortunate to be able to bring my love of food to students.

I have lived in Coos Bay all of my life except for the 5 years while attending college. When I’m not at school you can find me hanging out with friends and family, working on DIY/craft projects, reading a good book or playing with my dog Maxine. I attended Oregon State University where I pursued double degrees in Human Development & Family Science and in Education. One of my favorite things is listening to my students pray every morning. Their heart for the Lord and the people around them is so evident. Everyday my students are drawing each other closer to Jesus; that’s what it’s all about. Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”. That is our calling.

I am blessed to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, a wife, a mother of four, and (most recently) a grandmother. I am passionate about training up the next generation to become followers of Christ and effective communicators for His glory. The Lord has always been and will always be my greatest Teacher. Without Him, I would know nothing. "For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding" (Proverbs 2:6). I am also a graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on education and language. Why RCS? God. He founded and established this beautiful school, and He has invited my family to be a part of what He is doing here. It is truly a gift from Him.

I have been married to my much, much better half for 37 years and she has given me three wonderful sons. I worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller, Front Line Manager and Air Traffic Manager. I have experience as a mediator, mostly in a diversion program for youth in the criminal justice system. I was a CASA for three years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from UCD, taken LMR and leadership classes from CMEL (the FAA's Center for Management and Executive Leadership) and have continuing education in conflict resolution and mediation through UCB extension. I have been overwhelmed by constant examples of God's Mercy and Grace.

I am an Image Bearer of Christ. I am a Husband and a Father. I have been married to my lovely wife Emily for 19 years. We have 3 children, Jaeda, Kyla, and Damien; the youngest 2 still at home. 20 years ago, The LORD placed a calling on my life, that I was going to teach His people. That calling has taken may different forms over the following years in teaching bible studies, or tutoring math and science. Seeing the work the LORD was doing at Riverview Christian School over the 2021-2022 school year, I was moved to reach out and begin the process of joining the team. In the Lord's timing, He added me to the ranks of those blessed to call themselves Riverview Christian School teachers for second semester 2023. I am humbled to be a part of this incredible ministry.
Librarian / HS English

I began my "happily ever after" with Mr. Westmark 23 years ago. We have four children, born and raised along the Pacific Coast from Anchorage, Alaska to Coos Bay. This summer, we added a son-in-law from North Carolina! Before joining the RCS family, I was a youth services librarian, an adult literacy tutor, and small business owner. I have a B.A. in Writing & Literature from George Fox University and a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Wayne State University. I teach 11th and 12th grade English as well as dual credit writing and literature classes. However, my job of School Librarian is particularly fulfilling. It is one of the great joys of my life to share excellent books with students of all ages and to do everything in my power to spread the beautiful gift of Story. Our family is truly grateful to be a part of what the Lord is doing at Riverview.
